FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below are a list of answers to common questions about the wedding photography process. Have any additional questions that you don’t see listed? Please get in touch at (414) 979-9283 or firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll be happy to answer them for you!
Q: Why don’t you offer wedding photography packages?
A: I understand that no two weddings are exactly alike. For this reason, I offer photography services based on the number of hours of coverage that you’re looking for. All photography includes edited, high resolution, non-watermarked images delivered to you on USB drive and uploaded to an online gallery that you can share with friends, family and anyone else you’d like! If you want to add an engagement session, prints or a fine art album you’re always welcome to do so, but there’s no obligation. You get great photos of your day and only pay for what you need instead of extra add ons that you not want. Whether you’re looking for just a few hours coverage, or a full day with multiple photographers, videography or custom artwork for your home, I’ve got you covered.
Q: How long after the wedding will I receive my photos?
A: I know that you’re excited to see your photos, so I do my best to edit each couple’s photos as soon as possible. Most galleries are typically edited with 2 weeks, although during very busy times of the year it sometimes can a little longer for delivery. This is rare, and if edits will take longer than 3 weeks, I will contact you with an update.
Q: How many photos can I expect to get?
A: While every wedding is different, you can typically expect around 50-60 fully edited images per hour of coverage. As an important part of the professional service, I provide is editing to make sure that you’ll get a visual record of the moments you’ll want to remember! This means removing any images with blinks, motion blur, unflattering expressions or duplicates, and delivering you finished fully edited high quality files on USB drive.
Q: Do you edit all the images before I get them?
A: All images have basic digital editing applied to bring out the color and beauty in your photos. Basic cropping, straightening and color correction are applied to each photo. I’ll also remove basic imperfections such as blemishes, stains, sweat, red eye, etc. Above all, I place an emphasis on keeping all edits natural and to a minimum, so that you look your best while still looking like yourself! For examples of how finished photos look, please visit the Photo Galleries page of this website. More extensive retouching is also available upon request for an additional charge.
Q: Does your studio ever book more than one wedding per calendar date?
A: As a small boutique photography studio, the couples with whom I work are my top priority. For this reason, I never book more than one event per day, and typically no more than 3-4 events per month in order to provide the highest quality service to couples. Weddings are reserved on a first come, first served basis, and popular dates fill up quickly!
Q: How long will my online gallery be available?
A: Once it has been posted, your online gallery will be available for 3 months. This gallery is password protected, but you’re welcome to share with friends, family and anyone else you wish! You can also easily mark favorite images and post them to social media, email to contacts, or order prints from my professional lab. If you would like to extend your hosting beyond 3 months, this option is available for a $50 per month archiving fee.
Q. Do I need to purchase prints from Janviere Photography?
A: While I highly encourage couples and their families to print their photos so that they can be enjoyed every day, you are never required to do so. I offer a price discount for purchasing prints through my professional lab, which many clients find to be a significantly better quality and value when viewed side by side with prints than most consumer labs and online photo services. There are a number of great options for displaying your images that I’ll share with you about during your viewing session. I also custom design fine art albums for couples and gift albums for parents, which make heirloom keepsakes intended for you to treasure for the rest of your life. If you prefer to order through a print lab of your choice, you are also welcome to do so.
Q: Are there different options to pay for wedding our photography?
A: I recognize that professional wedding photography is an investment; one that often be the only tangible record of your once in a lifetime celebration. I also offer a number of payment plans, and am happy to create a plan that works for you. And for those interested in paying in full at the time the reservation is made, ten percent discount off their entire package.
Q: I’m worried that I’ll feel awkward in front of the camera, or that I won’t like how I look. What can I do to make sure that I like how my pictures will turn out?
A: Although some people just love the spotlight, that for many others it can feel a little bit strange and maybe even a little bit intimidating to have a camera pointed in your direction. I believe that everyone looks their best when they’re feeling relaxed, and to get you to feel at ease, I try to keep the mood light throughout our time working together, getting you to smile naturally (and who know–maybe even laugh a little).
I know lots of great poses to capture you from the most flattering angles–the end result is that you’ll love how you look! I’ve heard a lot of couples tell me after the session that they actually had fun and forgot that the camera was there at all.
Q: If I book with Jennifer Janviere Photography, will you be the one actually photographing my wedding?
A: Yes. Unlike many large studios that assign event coverage to any available staff photographer–sometimes to the surprise of the couple–whenever you reserve your date with Jennifer Janviere Photography, you will always be working directly with me.
Q: How do I reserve my date?
A: Once we’ve talked about your wedding information and you’re ready to reserve your date, I’ll send you a project agreement with the information that we’ve discussed (timeline, venues, important photos, etc). Just fill out and return the form with your down payment and you’re all set. Popular dates often fill up quickly, so don’t delay!
Q: Can we add a second photographer to our event?
A: While I’m experienced at capturing your event from a wide number of angles, there are times when you may wish to a second photographer to round out your event coverage. I have a list of experienced professionals with whom I work closely to coordinate the details of your wedding, so you’ll get great photos shot from a variety of different angles and edited into a single, cohesive style that tells the story of your big day.
Q: How large can I print my files?
A: With the exception of images that have been significantly cropped, most high resolution files provided on your USB drive are suitable for printing up to large format size of 18×24. Larger prints, canvases and wall artwork of your photos are also available for ordering through Janviere Photography.
Q: What if I want to order an album or wall artwork at a later date?
A: Photos are archived for 1 calendar year after your wedding date, so you’re welcome to order albums and large scale artwork at any time until then. Even if you’re not ready to order right away, a fine art album makes a great holiday or first anniversary gift!
Q: Have you photographed my venue before?
A: I’ve photographed many events at a number of different venues. As there are hundreds of great places to get married around the area, however, I may not have been to yours before.
If your venue is one I haven’t yet photographed, I will work with your event coordinator to plan a site visit–typically around a month before the event– in order to get a feel for the location and compile ideas for the best photo backdrops. Planning ahead will ensure that we’re ready to start creating beautiful wedding day photos upon arrival.
In addition, I have lots of experience working with different types of lighting–everything from bright sun drenched ceremonies to dark candlelit receptions, and everything in between. No matter your location, I’ve got the equipment and technical expertise to capture the story of your day as it unfolds.
Q: Are you available to travel outside of the Southeast Wisconsin area?
A: Absolutely—I love to travel! For most weddings in Southern, Eastern or Central Wisconsin there is no travel fee. For events outside of a 150 mile radius of Milwaukee, or those taking place outside of the state, I charge a small travel fee in addition to your package to cover mileage and travel time.
Q: Where will my engagement session take place?
A: I encourage couples to select a location for engagement photos that is special to you. If you don’t have any specific spots in mind, no worries—I’m happy to suggest locations based on your preferences. Whether you like gritty urban backdrops, elegant architecture or picturesque natural scenery, I know lots of great places for your perfect photos to fit your style!
Q: What if it rains during our scheduled photography session?
A: In the event of rain, I will contact you to reschedule your engagement session at an alternative date and time that is convenient to you.
Q: How long after my engagement session will I receive my photos?
A: Engagement session photos are typically delivered within 1-2 weeks after the session. You’ll receive a link to an online gallery that will be available for 3 months after the session, as well as images delivered digitally on USB drive.
Q: What should we wear to our engagement session?
A: You are welcome to wear whatever reflects your personal style and makes you feel great. Before your session, I’ll talk with you about suggestions for what works well on camera. Ultimately, though, what you wear is completely up to you.
Q: Can I bring props?
A: Sure! Props are welcomed and encouraged!
Q: Can I bring my dog/cat/parrot/boa constrictor?
A: Sure! As long as the animals belong to you, pets are a welcome part of the photo session!
